AACSB Youngest institution to be accredited by the AACSB
In 2011, SMU became the youngest institution to be accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) for its business and accountancy programmes across the postgraduate and undergraduate curriculum.

AACSB Re-accreditation for another five years from AACSB
In 2016, SMU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) and School of Accountancy (SOA) both earned re-accreditation for another five years from AACSB. SMU is one of only two universities that have earned accreditation in both business and accounting.

ABOUT SMU OFFICE OF POSTGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES (PGPP)

The SMU Office of Postgraduate Professional Programmes (OPGPP) was established in 2011 to support the growth of SMU Masters programmes and its students. Under the leadership of its founding Dean, Professor Philip Charles Zerrillo, OPGPP started with a focus on international marketing but have since taken a larger role of student development and academic coordination. OPGPP works closely with all SMU Masters programmes on matters such as orientation and onboarding, student handbook and academic regulations, running the Professional Development Series workshops and student life activities during term break.

SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTANCY

Established in 2001, the School of Accountancy (SOA) is the second-largest school in the Singapore Management University. Currently, SOA has a faculty of close to 50 and offers Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Science in Accounting (Data & Analytics) degrees. These distinctive programmes are designed in line with the development of Singapore as a leading global hub for accounting services and professionals for the Asia Pacific. SOA’s programmes are accredited by various reputable professional bodies and are internationally recognised. In 2019, SOA received international recognition for its research strength after it was ranked 1st in Asia and 3rd in the world for archival research in all accounting areas in the Brigham Young University (BYU) accounting research rankings. The achievement is a strong testament to the commitment of SMU faculty towards developing high-quality accounting research and the environment in SMU conducive to facilitating their research productivity.

Lee Kong Chian School of Business

Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) is ranked 2nd in Asia and 33rd worldwide in the University of Texas, Dallas rankings 2019 (based on research contributions) and is one of the youngest business schools in the world to have a triple accreditation with the AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. Many of the school’s postgraduate programmes are also ranked in the Financial Times Business School Rankings including the MBA (63rd), the MSc in Wealth Management (3rd) and the MSc in Applied Finance (45th). LKCSB is a dynamic Asian business school with over a hundred full-time faculty members with doctorate degrees from renowned universities such as Cornell, Harvard, INSEAD, London Business School, Wharton, Oxford, Stanford and Yale.

SCHOOL OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Real-world industry sectors provide our School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) with a testbed and laboratory for experimentation, as well as a fertile breeding ground for new ideas. Our faculty and students apply their research results to solve real problems in a variety of industry settings and to create IT applications and systems. SIS runs SMU’s largest postgraduate programme, the Master of IT in Business degree, with specialisations in Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Financial Technology & Analytics. The programme is ranked 1st in Asia and 14th worldwide out of 75 Masters in Business Analytics programmes from 17 countries around the globe in QS Masters in Business Analytics Rankings 2020.

SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

The School of Economics (SOE) is ranked 1st in Asia and top 10 worldwide for Econometrics Research, and 79th worldwide for overall Economics research in the Tilburg University Economics Schools Research Ranking based on contributions from 2013 to 2017. In 2014, SOE was awarded a $10 million multidisciplinary grant on “Ageing and Healthcare Economics”, the first-ever top-tier research grant awarded in Singapore to a social science discipline. This research is conducted under the auspices of SMU’s Centre for Research on the Economics of Ageing. In addition to research in health economics, SOE faculty are also actively involved in research in the areas of econometrics, international trade and trade policy, urban and real estate economics, and macroeconomics, among others.

YONG PUNG HOW SCHOOL OF LAW

SMU welcomed our new School of Law (SOL) building in 2017, which houses a Law Library, the David Marshall Moot Court, the SMU Pro Bono Centre and other leading research centres including the Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia (CEBCLA), the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA), and the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA). SMU School of Law offers a three-year Juris Doctor programme, a Master of Laws programme and continuing legal education. SMU’s interactive pedagogy, which trains students to contextualise legal expertise and to think across disciplines and geographical borders, aims to deliver SMU law graduates who are confident articulate and analytically agile.

SMU MASTERS INBOUND PROGRAM

The SMU Masters Inbound Programme offers the opportunity for prospective international students to experience the unique SMU Masters learning in a short period of time. Within a week or two, the students are able to immerse into the specific course related to the disciplines of Finance, Accounting, Business IT, Law, Innovation, and many other fields, and get ready for the SMU Masters application and study.

The courses will be taught by SMU Masters faculty; Certificate of Attendance will be given to participants who complete the programme. The programme also comprises the local immersions to familiarized the students with study and living in Singapore.
