Introduction

The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) is collaborating with the School of Management of Xiamen University (XMU) as represented by its Institute for Financial and Accounting Studies (IFAS) to offer students from XMU Preparatory Programme the opportunity to obtain admission to SMU’s Master of IT in Business (MITB) programme via the XMU-SMU MITB Preparatory Programme.

Course Structure

XMU students from XMU Preparatory Programme can take up to 4 approved Course Units (CUs) at XMU before pursuing a lighter load of 11 CUs in one year under one of four MITB tracks. Completion of these 15 CUs, 4 at XMU and 11 at SMU, and satisfying the graduation requirements will result in the student being awarded the SMU MITB degree. 

Admission Criteria

For XMU Preparatory Programme Students:

Admission to the SMU MITB Programme is based on the following terms which may be amended from time to time, as deemed appropriate by SMU based on current admission requirements of the SMU MITB Programme or as otherwise previously informed by SMU:

  • a satisfactory completion of the XMU Preparatory Programme;
  • an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent;
  • GMAT/ GRE or SMU Admissions Test score;
  • minimum IELTS score of 6.5, TOEFL score of 90;
  • an admission interview;
  • resume/cv;
  • personal statement;
  • recommendation letters;
  • requirement for two years of working experience will be waived (except for Digital Transformation track where a minimum of 3 years is preferred);

Graduation Criteria

To graduate, students will need to fulfil all required CUs as stipulated by SMU's MITB programme and maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 every term to be awarded the SMU MITB degree.
