Biography
I am currently on a six month (October 2013 - April 2014) internship programme with the Information Security Management of ANZ Singapore. This gives me the opportunity to work with their experts in information security and assist in work related to information security governance across Asia Pacific, Europe and America (APEA) regions.
While I had been actively involved in IT operational support during the course of my previous employments, this internship proved to be highly stimulating in terms of the new grounds and different facets of possible solutions it allows me to explore. The various projects I was given also further enhance my appreciation on information security.
I have the honour to be place under the charge of Steve Glynn, Head of Information Security & Technology Assurance, APEA and Nicholas Catherall, Head of Information Security & Technology Assurance, APEA. Both gentlemen had granted me wider exposure in this field by giving me opportunities to partake in real time projects and initiatives. Both of them also gave me much guidance and shared with me their precious experience they had acquired through years of work.
I am also fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with Ben Ong, APEA Information Security Specialist, whom I look upon as my buddy and mentor. Ben shared his wealth of knowledge with me selflessly and gave me many pointers which are both enlightening and illuminating, especially in works involving controls and governance.
I am impressed by the cross functional and in-depth domain knowledge the team has under their command. They exhibited a keen instinct in identifying security gaps and operational risks. Being part of this team, I am enriched with new skills and knowledge to take up future challenges in this field.
I am thankful for this rewarding experience which the partnership of MITB and ANZ had provided me. A rare opportunity like this does not come by easily, thus I am glad to have enrolled in MITB which is a Master Degree program that integrates academic learning with the industry context.
