My journey into the world of data analytics began during my undergraduate studies in business administration, where I discovered a profound passion for deciphering insights from data. This passion propelled me to read the Master of IT in Business (MITB) Artificial Intelligence programme.
The MITB programme which offers a comprehensive curriculum that hones both technical and collaborative skills, has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey. The coursework provides a solid foundation in advanced analytical techniques as it deep-dives into topics like machine learning and deep learning.
The Internet of Things (IoT) module was a highlight of my MITB journey, where I had the opportunity to utilise the state-of-the-art makerspace at SMU. This hands-on learning experience allowed me to immerse myself in experimenting with cutting-edge technologies. Thinkering with practical projects in this dynamic environment not only fueled my interest in IoT, but also challenged me to think creatively and cultivate problem-solving skills.
The MITB programme also offers invaluable avenues for industry engagement, including internships, capstone projects and industry guest speakers to share expertise firsthand in class. Another plus point about the MITB programme is its professors. They bring a pragmatic approach and a keen understanding of the latest market trends and ICT knowledge to the classroom. Their use of practical case scenarios enhances our understanding of the topics and prepares us well for real-world challenges.
Reflecting on my MITB experience, it has been immensely fulfilling. I wholeheartedly recommend future students to leverage the plethora of opportunities available, such as the collaborative SMU-X courses, internships, and extracurricular activities to enrich their learning and expertise.
