Undertaking a master's degree in MITB was one of the best decisions that I've made thus far. I chose MITB because it would provide me with opportunities not just to learn about analytics methodologies, but also to kickstart a career in analytics. Through the course of my studies, I had the chance to learn how analytics can play a pivotal role in businesses. I also gained exposure to a plethora of analytics fields in the course of the programme and it helped me to discover the areas that I was interested in. Although it was a strenuous year of studying and working concurrently, the academic rigour and guidance of professors, SMU Career Services and friends helped me to gain crucial skills and confidence to head out into the workplace. As such, I was able to land an exciting role as a Data Analyst in a tech startup. To current and future students of MITB, I would strongly encourage you to put in your utmost in assignments and projects and be fearless in your pursuit of learning. Do the things that scare you the most. (For me, that was coding!) And it is precisely in the place of stretching that you will grow in knowledge and understanding.
