I decided to pursue the SMU MITB programme as I have witnessed the inevitable convergence of finance and technology in my first 5 years in my career, and I wanted to develop new skills while sharpening my understanding in financial technology (fintech) and data analytics. The programme offered the necessary depth to examine concepts, tools and best practices within a particular chosen domain within fintech and data analytics, while providing sufficient breadth and flexibility to cover other essential technology-related topics such as Cybersecurity and IT Project & Vendor Management.
Even though I did not come from a computing background, the MITB learning environment and coursework fully supported students like me in picking up skills in coding and other technical domains. What I like most about MITB is the opportunity to learn from seasoned faculty and speakers from the industry to better understand the actual business use cases and real-world challenges that they face. These interactions have definitely benefitted me professionally, and I am glad to have the chance to connect with many of these individuals on a personal level. Thanks to the MITB programme, I am happy to be able to transition into a new role in technology consulting which has turned out to be extremely rewarding so far.
