At some point in my career journey, I discovered my passion for data analytics. While on-the-job training provided me the necessary domain-specific knowledge in understanding the business side of analytics, I found myself lacking in technical skills and core competencies in analytical techniques.
Having gone through the rigour of the SMU education framework back in my undergraduate days, I found that I had immensely benefited from the SMU approach and decided to select SMU again for my Masters degree.
My expectations throughout my MITB journey were exceeded oftentimes. The modules covered a range of technical skills such as SQL, R, Python, as well as provided opportunities for business applications through SMU-X projects. The curriculum also included interesting and relevant electives such as IoT and cybersecurity.
I thoroughly enjoyed the modules I enrolled in. For example, Operations Analytics under Prof Michelle gave me a strong foundation in forecasting techniques and an appreciation of supply chain management. Visual Analytics under Prof Kam enabled me to build up a useful Tableau portfolio.
I am excited to be able to use the new skills and knowledge in my new role at AWS.
