Before embarking on the MITB programme in SMU, I spent six years as a process engineer with Shell. My responsibilities centered on refinery operations, with a focus on optimising plant efficiency and exploring avenues to reduce energy consumption.
Singapore’s commitment to realise its Industry 4.0 vision as a regional powerhouse for advanced manufacturing and financial technology was a compelling factor for me. Anticipating the surge in companies embracing digital transformation, I aimed to equip myself with the necessary skill sets required to be part of this transformative journey.
The MITB programme has played a pivotal role in equipping me with the necessary skill sets, particularly within the Digital Transformation (DT) track. It has guided us through the transformation journey, covering areas such as transformation strategy, change management, and execution through agile and product management.
Currently serving as a Senior Digital Engineer in my organisation, I hold a strategic position advising the leadership team on the direction and execution of digital transformations within the workspace. Applying concepts learned during the programme, especially from a business perspective, has proven instrumental in navigating the complexities of transformation.
One key aspect of the MITB programme is its faculty—which comprises industry practitioners who offer valuable insights. Engaging with professors and fellow students from diverse backgrounds has enriched my learning experience. The varied perspectives shared, both through case studies in classes and informal communications, have broadened my understanding of digital transformation across industries.
