With an academic background in accounting and economics, coupled with a decade of experience at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, I have cultivated a strong interest in data analysis across various domains.
I chose to pursue SMU’s Master of IT in Business due to its international reputation for excellence. Recognizing the increasing significance of data analytics and machine learning, I saw this programme as a gateway to enhancing my skills and staying competitive in the evolving job market. MITB has profoundly shaped my professional journey, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytical methods and technologies, empowering me to tackle complex challenges with confidence.
The knowledge and skills gained from MITB have been invaluable in my career. I have applied these learnings to enhance data processing efficiency, improve the quality of data analytics, and adopt innovative approaches, driving impactful outcomes in my current role.
During my internship within the MITB programme, I worked as a Data Engineer at the Health Promotion Board under the Singapore Government. This experience highlighted the importance and benefits of process automation, a lesson that continues to influence my work positively.
One of the aspects I value most about the MITB programme and studying at SMU is the opportunity to interact with peers from diverse sectors who are experts in their fields. I also appreciated the chance of meeting industry leaders and experts.
The professors at SMU are exemplary in their fields, offering invaluable insights and guidance to students. Their expertise and dedication have greatly enriched my learning experience and inspired me to strive for continuous improvement. I am particularly impressed by Prof. Kam Tin Seong, whose dedication to personally guiding students exceeds expectations.
After graduation, I have returned to Indonesia and have taken on a new role as a Research and Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Finance. I plan to leverage my enhanced skill sets and knowledge to drive innovation and contribute meaningfully to the Ministry. Additionally, I aspire to explore opportunities for professional growth and further specialization in data analytics.
For prospective students considering the MITB programme, my advice is to embrace the journey wholeheartedly. Stay curious, engaged, and seize every opportunity to learn and grow. Utilise the resources and support available at SMU to maximize your potential and pave the way for a successful career in the dynamic field of business and technology.
