Biography
As a recipient of the Alexandra Health–SMU T-Lab scholarship, I was attached to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) for a period of 6 months. During this period I was part of the Business Analytics Unit and was assigned two projects simultaneously. This gave me a chance to learn about the different departments/operations of the hospital. I had the opportunity to interact with the staff and learn about the different pain points these departments were facing in their day-to-day operations. In order to address these pain points I had to work with data from different systems of the hospital and develop statistical models and dashboards for effective data visualization. I leveraged this as an opportunity to transform MITB-Analytics classroom teachings into practicality to solve real business problems.
The attachment with KTPH has also made me an effective communicator (which I believe is an integral part of being a data analyst) as I had the opportunity to present my work to the senior management at board level meetings. I am indeed very thankful to KTPH and SMU-MITB staff for believing in me and providing me this career enriching experience.
