After having spent nearly 2 years as a financial analyst in India I came to Asia’s financial hub, Singapore, with an aim to further enhance my knowledge and skillset. I am happy that I made a correct choice by opting for MITB-(Financial Services) track. Through its extensive class room training and industry attachments MITB opened up various avenues for me to learn from experts and become better at what I do.
I interned with Citibank Singapore Limited for 6 months in the Payment Services unit. Having no experience in the past in this area it was indeed a challenging task for me. I chose to put in extra efforts and never hesitated to ask questions. This really helped me to understand the underlying concepts. I was lucky to have been able to apply my current learnings from MITB in to my day to day work at Citibank.
I was involved in various projects/tasks in the Payment Services Unit, this gave me an opportunity to look across the spectrum and get a high level view of how things actually work behind the scenes. For a customer it might be a simple process to deposit a cheque and have the amount credited in his account but it is easier said than done. Such an understanding is really important for anyone looking to pursue career in financial services industry.
MITB (Financial Services) is a well-designed tailor-made course which touches on almost every aspect of financial services in the current financial world. As the name suggests it is a perfect blend of Information Technology and Business which I believe is a combination not available so easily in other universities. Every course from the curriculum empowered me with the much needed knowledge to fulfil my duties at Citibank. I am deeply thankful to all my MITB teachers who always used innovative methods and real life examples to help us learn the concepts during class sessions.
I would not cease to extend my gratitude to my colleagues and seniors at Citibank for being so supportive and helpful. I am grateful to my managers to have always acknowledged my work and provide continuous guidance. I have accepted the offer to continue with Citibank as an associate within the payment Services Unit and I really look forward to learn more and at the same time support the bank to achieve its goals.
