2014 Spring PKU-MITB first Batch
Graduation Class of 2015
Strategic Account Manager
SS&C Technology (Hong Kong)

I am Yan YangYang, graduated from the first batch of PKU-MITB (Financial Services) program. I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Law from CYU and a double Bachelor’s Degree of Economics from PKU. When I look back at the program after 3 years of working experiences in Financial Services industry, I realize that I had made a right choice and it was a truly positive and pleasant journey.

The program is meaningful and helpful not only for its wide coverage of key concepts, tools and framework in financial services industry, but also the direct access to financial industrial leaders and practices, which make us more competitive in the job market. It equipped me with all the necessary knowledge and skills to develop a long-term career in this innovative, fast-paced and tech-driven financial world.

As part of the program, I interned in a leading international bank as a Process Improvement Analysis for six months. My job duty was to improve business process using Lean IT methodology across the infrastructure team. The internship gave me the chance to apply the concepts and methods from classroom to daily business processes.

I enjoyed learning and growing together with a group of talented classmates in the program. I still remember all the late nights, the early mornings, and the inspiring discussions. We developed life-long friendship through this experience, and some of my classmates even become my colleagues today.

Our professors in the program are also unforgettable. They are knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated mentors. Many of them are from senior positions in financial industry. They always provided industrial insights based on first-hand experiences and observations, which is very valuable for graduates like me to get a deeper understanding of the real world.

For prospective students wishing to enroll into this program, I would suggest them to embrace the double challenges of intensive coursework as well as demanding internship, both of which can be precious take-away from this program. It would also be important to keep on exploring what is your competitive advantage in the industry and which specific area you would like to become a specialist in the long run. Study with an eye on future, you will find yourself closer and closer to your dream.
