In recent years, SMU has developed from solely providing high-quality interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes to offering a portfolio of postgraduate programmes, as well as continuing education via Executive Development (ExD) and SMU Academy (SMUA).
Since its inception in 2006, the Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) programme offers an accelerated route towards membership of the global professional accounting bodies. The MPA programme has received eleven accreditations from the professional, academic and regulatory bodies. With this global recognition, the programme expanded to two intakes per year from 2015 – in May and August. However, the two intakes have grown incrementally and do not currently operate within a single framework.
To enhance the learning outcomes and holistic development of SMU postgraduate students and establish an integrated approach to the postgraduate academic experience, the University has reviewed the programme and decided to merge the two intakes of the MPA programme to one intake commencing in August 2020.
With this move, students will benefit from a larger cohort for a shared learning experience, opportunities for overseas exchange, global study mission and student activities. They can also look forward to a longer internship period and a unified graduation time.
