Why did you choose SMU and the MPA programme?
I chose SMU’s MPA programme to enhance my academic knowledge after a decade in accounting as it is one of the most highly regarded accounting qualifications in Singapore. Additionally, the SMU campus, conveniently located just one MRT stop from my office, significantly reduces my commuting time.
How has the experience benefited you?
The programme has greatly benefited me by offering a structured approach to knowledge along with a range of analytical tools, techniques and practical applications. I appreciate how each subject is reinforced through hands-on projects and presentations. I have also gained valuable insights from collaborating with classmates on team projects. Having access to recorded lectures and online materials also made reviewing and studying more manageable.
SMU professors, each with their unique teaching style, have greatly enriched my learning experience by sharing their diverse experiences and real-life stories. Their varied approaches and practical insights have brought theoretical concepts to life, making the learning process more engaging and impactful. Additionally, I am also very impressed by the exceptional service and support provided by the SMU administration team. They have consistently addressed students' needs with prompt and effective responses, showing outstanding care and attention.
What advice would you give to someone considering a Masters?
My advice to prospective Master’s students is to carefully evaluate each programme’s offerings and select one that aligns with your career goals. Look for a programme that not only delivers strong academic content but also offers a robust network and resources to support your professional growth – such as the MPA programme at SMU.
