MSA Student Activity - Southern Ridges Hiking, March 2022
After the Chinese New Year holiday and stressful mid-term in February, the class committee felt that it was necessary for the class to get some rest and boost their energy levels for the second half of the term. As the saying goes, nature has the power to heal. Therefore, the class committee decided to organize a hiking event on 4th March, at the end of the recess week to reconnect the class. For the hiking venue, we decided on the Southern Ridges as it is considered one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Singapore. There was a total of 11 participants who attended the hiking event.
In order to comply with the current safety management measures (SMM), the class committee collected everyone’s negative ART results before the event. The session started off with a dinner and everyone was able to catch up with each other. We even got the chance to celebrate one of our classmates’ birthdays.
After dinner, we headed to the nearest entrance to Southern Ridges – the Marang Trail. Though the Marang Trail seemed a bit spooky at the beginning, it got better with our companionship as well as the road lamps, we took around half an hour to reach the top of the Southern Ridges. The view was totally different from the daytime. It was so tranquil yet splendid with all the lights in the city. We felt that every step we took to reach the top was well worth it.
We had a great time on the “mountain top”, taking pictures, talking with each other, and enjoying the fresh breeze from the hills. After that, we decided to head to the final stop of our hiking event, the Henderson Waves. Due to ongoing construction work, we took some detours before reaching the Henderson Waves.
Finally, the session ended off at the Henderson Waves! It was a relaxing, joyful well-spent Friday night. This was also our first physical activity. Hopefully, we will see more physical events coming in the future.
