With the help of the postgraduate office, SMU’s MPA students (August intake) partnered with Infant Jesus Homes and Children’s Centres (IJHCC) to conduct a mixture of role-play and hands-on activities for more than 50 grade schoolers in March.
Students from MPA, together with the committee of IJHCC, prepared a series of activities featuring an art class and a money-management game. Through the art class, the grade schoolers learned how to think out-of-the-box when they shared their ideas on how to draw pictures with numbers. Whereas the money management game taught them how to manage their daily budgets through grocery shopping and money saving.
“This is a fun and meaningful way to interact with the children. I hope that we could inspire the children to think creatively and spend wisely through the activities,” shared Feng Jingyu, an MPA student.
“I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated class committee and IHJCC - the art class and games activities were very meaningful and gave us the opportunity to interact with the children!” said Wang An, an MPA student.
